§ 1.5-507. Coroner.
The Coroner shall perform all duties, not inconsistent with this Charter, now or hereafter conferred by State laws on coroners in counties of Lehigh Countys classification functioning without home rule charters; or, in the absence of such laws, by State laws relating to coroners in counties having populations most closely equal to that of Lehigh County. The Coroner shall accept no fees for the performance of his duties other than his or her salary as fixed by the Board. He or she shall have such other powers, duties and authority as are given by the Charter, by law or by ordinance of the Board. The Coroner shall have the power to appoint assistants, clerks and other personnel required for the conduct of his or her office, in such numbers and job classifications and at such salaries as shall be fixed by the Board. The amendment of this section in 1997 shall be effective on January 1, 1998.
